Free Math & Science Help

Homework Hotline URL Color A community service since 1991, the program provides tutoring via a toll-free phone call. The Homework Hotline reinforces math and science concepts, helps students develop better problem-solving skills and guides them toward answering similar problems on their own.

Who Can use the Homework Hotline?
Indiana students in grades 6-12 who need math or science homework help can call. This is a great tool for students of all academic levels.

When is the Homework Hotline open?
Tutors answer calls between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. (EDT), Sunday through Thursday, from September through May.

Will the tutors give students answers?
No. Homework Hotline tutors guide students in learning more about a subject but do not do the work for them. Tutors are trained to ask the right questions to help students analyze problems and find their own solutions.

What do students need during a tutoring session?
Before calling the Homework Hotline, students should have the following items handy:
  • Homework assignment
  • Pencil or pen
  • Textbook (if available)
  • Calculator (if needed)
  • Paper
